Darryl Song, aged 63, passed away on January 20th, 2025, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer since May of 2023.

Born Song Young Kwon in Seoul, South Korea on May 6th, 1961. He spent the first 6 years of his life in Korea with his siblings and extended family before moving to the United States where his parents, Song Jong Kook and Song Dae Gyun, had begun building a life for them in Flushing, New York.

He graduated from Manhattan's Stuyvesant High School in 1979 and went on to attend Boston University. Charmed by the beauty of Back Bay, the food scene in the North End, and the family of friends he found, he decided to stay and build his life in Boston. He embarked on his career as a software engineer and his work led to exciting travels across the country and abroad. Beyond his career, Darryl will be most remembered for his kindness, generosity, and love.

In March of 1993, Darryl met the love of his life, Anne, at a nightclub named Venus de Milo in Boston. Darryl said he just knew immediately, she was the one for him. After 5 years together, Anne and Darryl got married on June 13th, 1998. The day still holds the title of 3rd rainiest day in Boston history. Despite the torrential downpour and the closure of the Mass Pike, and guests being drenched upon arrival, the night has been remembered by all as one of the greatest parties of their lives. The rain, as they say, was a sign of great luck.

Darryl was a loving son, brother, uncle, friend, and husband. But no title gave him more pride than being a dad to his incredible daughters, Isabella and Chloe. He never missed a dance recital, soccer game, parent-teacher conference, or swim meet. His voice could be heard from the stands to the pool deck, cheering not only for his daughters but for the whole team. His devotion to his girls went beyond supporting their hobbies and interests. He was always there; a shoulder to cry on, hugs full of love, and wise words to guide them.

Darryl was a lover of the arts, technology, and of course food. He was a gifted photographer, carrying a camera with him everywhere, capturing memories and life's beautiful moments. For him it wasn't just about crafting a composition, but about the whole process behind it. He dedicated the same passion and enthusiasm to all of his interests. One of Darryl's greatest pleasures in life was enjoying a great meal. He had an adventurous palate and didn't shy away from trying anything on the menu.

His impact extended beyond just his family, every person whose life he touched remembers him as a warm, kind, and gentle soul.

Darryl was predeceased by his parents, Jong Kook and Dae Gyun, and his brother James.

He is survived by his wife Anne and two daughters Isabella and Chloe; his sister Karen D'Auria and her husband Charlie; his brother Eugene Song and his wife Madoka; his brother Jonathan Song and his wife Lindsey; his mother-in-law Helen Horsman; his sister-in-law Eileen Hillick and her husband Chris; his nieces and nephews Charles, Jonathan, Justin, Kyle, Jack, Marissa, Hana, Madison, and Ellie.
