OBITUARY Fitchburg – Constance A. “Connie” Kane, affectionately known as “Gram,” passed away peacefully on July 6, in her own home. She was 85. Connie was born in Fitchburg on March 23, 1933, daughter of the late Adelard and Blanche (Dupuis) Cormier. She attended Fitchburg High School and went on to manage the coffee shop at Brooks Pharmacy. She also worked within her family’s business, Cormier Catering. Connie ran the coffee shop at the Burbank Hospital Guild and after many dedicated years, retired as the Assistant Food Director of Burbank Hospital.  Connie was a kind and compassionate woman, a loyal and generous friend to those who count themselves fortunate to have known her. Her sense of humor and story-telling ability kept us laughing throughout the years. She lived her life with verve, never one to complain and was always “at the ready” to send a card to express care and concern for others. Ever devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she spread the wealth of kindness, fondly referred to as “Gram” to many including Dave, Cara, Kylene, and Amanda. She loved children and enjoyed her years as a Cub Scout den leader in Fitchburg. With a love for travel she spent many years with friends on tours to New Brunswick and Montreal while summering at Hampton Beach Park with her sister, Claudette. She enjoyed her daily rides on the MART Bus Line, befriending many of the drivers, and recognized their service with gifts of chocolates at holidays.   She was fiercely independent and asked for little. In her last years, as life slowed down, she was grateful for the care and dedication of “Her Girls”, as she called them. Her comfy chair in “her office,” a sweet treat, a word-find book and her Fitchburg Sentinel to check on local news, kept her larder full. Those who knew Connie well would agree, she took little, gave much and was as gentle a soul as one could ever know. She is already, greatly missed. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Kane of Fitchburg and Lisa Kane and wife Amy Morse of Vero Beach, FL; two sons, Michael Kane and wife Cathy of Fitchburg and Daniel Kane of Antrim, NH; grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Kelly Kane, Heidi Kane, Ericka Kane, Lila Morse-Harding, Chloe Morse-Harding, Kwame Kane, Joshua Kane, Lynsey Fiske, and J.R. Fiske; great grandchildren, Makayla, Sophia, Jaxon, Christian, Abby, and Brandon; sister Claudette Cormier of Leominster and brother Ronald Cormier of Fitchburg;  many nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends.    Connie was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, George B. Kane Jr. in 2008, and her sister Lorraine Morand.
