Bernard T. Dauphin, 83, of Fitchburg passed away unexpectedly at home on April 6, 2024.
Bernard was born in Fitchburg on December 21, 1940 to the late Archie E. and Margaret J. (Mullahy) Dauphin and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of the Fitchburg High School Class of 1960.
He was a member of the Army National Guard of Massachusetts and enjoyed careers at RMP of New England located in Fitchburg, followed by the Worcester County Jail in West Boylston. He retired in 2003. Bernard was blessed to share his life with two beautiful souls – Margaret L. “Peggy” (Karkutt) Dauphin, his wife of 27 years who passed in 1997, and his wife Madeline L. (Nurmi) Dauphin from 2003 to her passing in 2021. He enjoyed the love and compassion of many he could call family.
Over his many years he enjoyed cars, traveling, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Radio Margaritaville, following NASCAR, the Boston sports scene, and catching up regularly with old friends. He vacationed annually in Maine, especially during his retirement enjoying Old Orchard Beach with Madeline, family, and friends, including Joseph A. Dauphin, his twin brother, who predeceased him in 2016.
Bernard leaves a son, Michael T. Dauphin, and his wife Michelle C. Dauphin, and grandson, Zachary A. Dauphin, of Somerset, MA, and his niece Diane M. Dauphin of Lunenburg, MA. Additionally, his stepchildren Christine A. Nurmi of Wells, ME and Richard A. Nurmi of East Boston, MA, and their children and grandchildren.
He was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 1400 Main St., Leominster MA. Donations are welcome in his memory.
Calling hours for Bernard will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 4:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, MA. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 10:00 A.M at Our Lady of The Lake Church, 1400 Main St, Leominster, MA 01453, with burial to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, 96 Goodrich St. Fitchburg, MA.
