Bernard J. Barlow, Jr.

October 8, 1952 — March 11, 2025

Leominster

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bernard J. Barlow Jr, affectionately known as Pops, who left us on March 11, 2025. Born in Rutland, Vermont on October 8, 1952, Bernie made Leominster, Massachusetts his home, where he built a life filled with laughter, love, and community. His life was characterized by his lively and spirited nature. He was a reliable friend, a compassionate member of the community, and a devoted family man. His robust laughter and quick wit made him the life of the party, while his steadfast loyalty and dependability made him a pillar in his community and an anchor for his family.

Bernie was a retired Avionics Technician with the Department of Defense. His work, though challenging, was a source of pride as he felt he was part of something bigger than himself. He was not just a man who fixed things; he was a man who helped keep his country safe. His dedication to God, country, and family was the compass that guided his life. Every person who crossed paths with Bernie became a neighbor in his heart. He was a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was a small task or a major life event. Generations will remember his selfless leadership, unwavering support, and positivity he infused into every life he touched.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife of over five decades, Mai Barlow, their daughter Linh (Long) Dinh, and their son Bernard/Bobby (Stacie) III. Bernie will be dearly missed by his siblings Linda Tennyson, Bernice (Robert) Ducharme, Patricia (Christopher) Herzog, Dennis Barlow, Susan (Vincent) Aldape and his sister-in-law Kathy Stanley. He was a proud grandfather to Lori (Clement) Leung, Lisa (Chancellor) Harkins, Lucy (Thomas) Dinh, Jacoby Barlow, and Reese Barlow. Bernard’s life was also deeply enriched by the close bonds he shared with his many beloved nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in his heart. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mary Barlow Sr, his brother Fred Barlow, and brother-in-law Dale Tennyson.

Bernie was very proud of his service in the military and a career of fourty years with the DoD. Supporting veteran services was one of his greatest passions. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) at https://runsignup.com/barlowstrong.

We invite you to leave memories and upload photos of Bernie on the memorial page at brandonfuneral.com, to celebrate a life lived with passion and joy.
