The funeral will be held Thursday, May 19 from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass at 10 am in St. Bernard’s Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 18 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
FITCHBURG – Anthony “Tony” J. Norton, 91, died May 16, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 25, 1925 in Fitchburg, the son of Francis and Anne (Adukis) Nanartonis. He was employed at American Can Company for many years until his retirement in 1993. Previously, he worked at Fallulah Paper Co.
He enjoyed antiquing and recycling and enjoyed going to York Beach, Maine. He was a loving and giving father and grandfather.
His wife, Irene (St. Germain) Norton died in 1998. He leaves four children, Robert Norton of Portsmouth, NH, Jane Valera of Leominster, John Norton of Acton and Ann Wicker of Fitchburg, six grandchildren, Shawn Valera, John Valera, Sarah Wicker, Nicholas Wicker, Todd Norton and Terri Norton, four great grandchildren, Shawn Valera Jr., Megan Valera Bilal, Marianna Valera and Antonio Valera and two great great grandchildren, Shawn-O Valera and Eric Graham. He was predeceased by his daughter Nancy Norton.
