FITCHBURG – Anthony “Duke” Cali, 90, died December 29, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
The funeral will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019from Brandon Funeral Home, Fitchburg with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice.
FITCHBURG – Anthony “Duke” Cali, 90, died December 29, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family.He was born in Fitchburg, the son of Sebastiano and Maria (Rampulla) Cali. He is survived by his adoring wife of 69 years, Greta (Leger) Cali, two sons, Sam Cali, and his wife, Laura, of Fitchburg and Anthony Cali, and his companion, Joyce Gosselin, of Fitchburg, two daughters, Cindy Lubianez, and her husband, Ron of Fitchburg and Linda LaFleur and her companion, Derek Beauchemin of Millbury, sister, Nina Amico of Fitchburg, grandchildren, Erik and Nick LaFleur, Melanie, Chris and Matt Cali, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brother Leon Cali, and sisters Jennie Champa, Rose Champa, and Celia Serratore.
Duke was passionate about many things including working in his garden and an an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bird hunting with his two sons and his best friend, his dog Rusty who saved his life.Duke’s energy was amazing. spending countless hours doing yard work and yet never neglecting his family. Nothing made him more proud or happier than to host gatherings at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was a generous man and loved by all who were fortunate to cross his path.He was employed by the City of Fitchburg Water Department for over thirty years retiring as acting Superintendent of the department.
He was a long time member of Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church and worked the Lenten Fish Dinners for many years. Most recently, he was a member of St. Anthony di Padua Church.
