A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 28, in Saint Boniface Church, 817 Mass. Ave., Lunenburg, MA at 10:00am.
Burial will follow in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery in Fitchburg.
Calling hours will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, November 27, in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Simons Sinon Cancer Center, 275 Nichols Rd., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
OBITUARY
Lunenburg – Anne L. (Spofford) Rivard, 74, of Lunenburg, MA, passed away peacefully in her home on November 23, 2018, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Gardner, MA on October 19, 1944, the daughter of the late Guy H. and Loretta Y. (Fleurant) Spofford.
Anne graduated from Gardner High School in 1962 and from Rivier College, Nashua, NH in 1966. She taught second grade in Baldwinville, MA and at the T.C. Passios Elementary School in Lunenburg followed by many years of volunteer work in the Lunenburg School System and the town’s library.
She enjoyed nature and traveled around the United States by motor home with her husband, Mike, for many years. Together they loved Geocaching which brought them to beautiful places, meeting many interesting people along the way. Anne was also an avid crafter and loved to read.
She leaves her devoted husband of 50 years, Michael T. Rivard; her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Craig Smith, of Peabody, MA; her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and William Allen of Kinnelon, NJ; her mother-in-law, M. Priscilla Rivard of Fitchburg; several cousins; many nieces and nephews; and numerous caring friends who were instrumental in helping her throughout her illness.
Anne was a member of St. Boniface Parish in Lunenburg, where she taught CCD for several years.
