Anna M. Cordio Sala

Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, August 11, from 4-8pm. The funeral Mass will be held in Saint Anna’s Church, 194 Lancaster St., Leominster at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Fitchburg.
Anna (Sala) Cordio, 80, of Fitchburg, died after a courageous battle with cancer, Saturday August 5, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Worcester.
Mrs. Cordio was born in Fitchburg, MA, May 7, 1937, the youngest of five children to the late Salvatore Sala and Francis Sala and resided all of her life in Cleghorn. She graduated from St. Bernard High school class of 1955.
She leaves her life long companion John (Butch) Leblanc; her three children, Catherine Cochran and her husband Norman Cochran Jr., Johnny Cordio Jr. and his partner Betty Moriarty, Randy Cordio; five grandchildren Scott Belliveau and his partner Tammy Nowlan, Tammy Belliveau, Patrick Cochran, Tony Ford, Nick Ford; eight great grandchildren Jocelyn Corbeil, Shea Nowlan, Jaelynn Corbeil, Alyssa Belliveau, Patrick Cochran Jr., Antonio Ford Jr., Chloe Ford, Kaya Khounsombath, two sisters Gerry Ciccone and her husband Matt Ciccone Rose Fortier and her husband Ray Fortier, and several nieces and nephews.
Anna was predeceased by her loving father and mother, Salvatore Sala and Frances Sala, her two brothers Charlie Sala and Joe Sala.
Anna Cordio was a life long resident of Fitchburg and lived her entire life in the Cleghorn neighborhood. She grew up working with her family at Sala’s Market on Daniel Street. She was loved dearly by all the Cleghorn neighborhood childern. She enjoyed her vacations at Hampton Beach every summer with her family and friends. She spent much of her free time volunteering for various city events and activities such as Cleghorn Neighborhood Center, Civic Days Committee, Zoning Board and many other great causes. She also worked at Victory Supermarket and Hannaford for many years. Where she gained many friends and left her loving impact on so many. Her volunteerism was a life long commitment and everyone that knew Anna, knew she was happiest when she was able to help others. She lived a selfless life by helping everyone she loved.
Anna left a lasting impact on everyone she came in contact with. Her caring heart and loving spirit lives on through everyone she met. She will truly be missed.
