Al was born in Fitchburg on October 19, 1932, a son of the late Alfonso and Paola (Parolin) Quarella. He was a graduate of Saint Bernard’s Central Catholic High School. In 1952, Al enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served his country during the Korean War, until his honorable discharge in 1960.
Al was a very hard working and ambitious young man. He began his career, which spanned over 30 years, in the laundry room at Decotone in Fitchburg. He successfully worked his way up within the Fitchburg and Westminster companies to become the Operations and Sales Manager at the North Carolina Plant. Al continued his career at Polymatrix in Pittsfield, MA in a management position for several years.

Al was a former member of the Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church, as well as the Petrini and Retired Men’s Club.

Above all else, Al loved his family; he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always made sure to attend as many of his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events as possible. He will be greatly missed.
