Alice M. Curran, 95, passed peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021 at The Highlands in Fitchburg, MA where she was surrounded by love from family and the wonderful staff.
She was born in Fitchburg, the daughter of Clayton and Mary Raymond. The oldest of five siblings, she was truly the “matriarch” of the family. She was predeceased by her brothers Richard, Edward (Ned) and John Raymond and sister Nancy Sicard.
Alice lived her entire life for her family but always had a place in her heart for those less fortunate. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed any occasion to celebrate life with family and friends. Her greatest love may have been her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed reading mysteries, PBS television series, westerns, a good whiskey sour and most of all vacations at the beach.
At 93 years old she survived Covid, followed by a broken hip on her 94th birthday. She was simply amazing.
After raising her children she enjoyed working in positions as a teacher’s aide, in fuel assistance and programs that assisted others in job placement, social programs where she was most proud of being able to help others.
Her family is incredibly grateful for her 95 years of love, support, guidance and resilience.
She leaves her husband of 67 years, Richard (Dick) Curran, Catherine Cloutier and her husband Stephen of Leominster, Leanne Curran and her husband Scott MacWilliams of Lee, MA, Susan Curran-Poirier and her husband Marc Poirier of Fitchburg, and son John Curran and his wife Mary Beth of Gardner. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
