Alan J. Hutchinson, 67, of Hubbardston Road, Templeton, died suddenly from his heart condition Friday afternoon, May 5, 2023, with his wife, Jane, by his side.
Born on May 12, 1955, in Chelsea, MA at the U.S. Naval Hospital, he was the son of Edward S. and Eleanor F. (Buonomo) Hutchinson of Burlington, MA. Being the son of a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the Navy, Alan spent his early years living in Somerville MA, Newport RI, Alameda CA, and Charleston SC. His parents settled in Burlington MA in 1967 and Alan graduated from Burlington High School.
Alan married Jane (Magliozzi) on September 28, 1973. They lived in Woburn and Lowell MA with their two children, Jennifer and Adam, until 1988 when they settled in Templeton MA. Alan was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation for 20 years, enjoying his time in the QA lab. He finished his career at EMC, working alongside his son Adam.
All who knew Alan knew of his love of flying RC planes. His children, nieces and nephews spent many summer afternoons at the flying fields with him enjoying his hobby. He spent many years as a member of the CMRCM (Central Mass Radio Control Modelers) in Westboro, sharing his love of flying with other like minded flyers.
Alan was a man of many hobbies. From fishing to video games, rocketry to riding his electric unicycle, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a lover of all tech, and liked nothing better than to have a problem to solve or something to fix. A teacher at heart if not by profession, you could see the excitement in his eyes whenever a child asked a question of him that allowed him to share his vast knowledge.
Alan leaves his loving wife, Jane of Templeton; his daughter Jennifer and Shawn of North Carolina, and son Adam and Mary of Leominster; grandchildren Jaclynn of Fitchburg and Jason of North Carolina, and Madeleine, Alex, and Amelia of Leominster; great granddaughter Jenevieve of Fitchburg; and Knuckles his favorite cat.

He was predeceased by his father Edward in 2013.
