Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Monday, November 2, from 9-10am. A service will begin at 10am. Burial will follow in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery.
OBITUARY
Townsend – A. “Donay” Kane, 92, of Townsend, formerly of Fitchburg, passed away Wednesday, October 28, in the Apple Valley Nursing Center.
Donay was born in Fitchburg on October 18, 1923, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Lucy (DiPaoli) Brunetti. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1941 and worked for the New England Telephone Company. In 1943, Donay enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served her country during WWII. After her honorable discharge in 1949, she traveled to Las Vegas, California, Wyoming, and Morocco. Donay returned home and graduated from the Burbank School of Nursing in 1958. She worked as an ER Nurse until her retirement in 1988.
She loved spending time with her family and especially loved visiting her son and his black Lab, Lucy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves her son William Kane and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Hommel and her husband Mike and Ethan P. Kane, all of Townsend; nieces and nephews.
Donay was predeceased by her brother Michael Brunetti and her sisters, Lena Sigismondo and Elizabeth “Lee” Brunetti.
